I STAYED HOME (PHOTO BOOK)
When the pandemic swept over the world and drove each of us into isolation, I needed to keep creating somehow. Knowing I couldn't continue producing photos like the previous five years, I took a different approach and began making images at home that were wildly different and new for me. What resulted is a collection of quirky and inflammatory pop art made from March 2020 to November 2021. While some pictures are simply fun, others serve as visual statements about toxic masculinity, gender, food equity, social and political upheaval, sexual desires, kink, anxiety and more. In a lot of ways, I STAYED HOME became an extension of my thought process for many months. Simultaneously this project allowed me to express a variety of personal viewpoints while fulfilling myself artistically in an unrelentingly bleak and precarious time. When it all went to shit, I stayed home.
